Childcare: The Necessary Evil

My husband and I are planning on expanding our family again (big grin) and I am starting to look at alternative childcare in the Greater Bangor Area (Bangor, Brewer, Holden, Orrington, Hampden).   My two year old daughter currently is attending a home based daycare but I wasn't sure if there are any highly respected daycares out there.  Would be enrolling a 3 year old and an infant.  Suggestions?

I am currently paying $140/week for my daughter (until November when she hits 30 months).  Is this average?  Or am I being taken to the cleaners.  I definitely believe you get what you pay for but just want to get a feel of what others are paying.

What next?

Thank you for posting this question. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you. In fact, I'm in the same boat. If anyone out there has any suggestions, please let me know. I will have an infant next spring, and I really want to research my childcare options now so that the choice for my little one (when he/she arrives!) is the best one I can make.

Prices do vary by location. Where I live (in CA) $140 per week is a great rate.

I wonder why you wish to move somewhere else? Is it because your current daycare doesn't take infants?

No,they do take infants but we are planning on moving 30 minutes away and I would like to find a provider closer to our new home.
