Why 'Why'?

Some call it the terrible twos, others call it being inquisitive. I just want to know why they always ask "Why?" My daughter has begun to ask "why?" after everything that anyone says. Example: "We are going to Nana & Papa's house." - her response: "Why?". "Come have breakfast sweetie" - her response: "Why?". Ignoring the question hasn't worked. Answering the question hasn't worked. I'm sure most if not all parents have encountered this but has anyone tackled these frustrating "whys" in a clever manner? Have you managed to get your kid(s) to stop somehow? If so...let us know how!

What next?

I have read that instead of answering her 'whys' or ignoring them, try reversing it by asking her 'why' she thinks she should eat breakfast, or 'why' she thinks she's going to Nana and Papa's, etc. Perhaps it may help her understand she can think for herself. Great site!! I wish you much success!!
