As you may have noticed, posts have been far and few between the last month or two. Between new house construction, renovating the home we are "house sitting", working, weddings...blah blah (you get the point), down time has been well, non-existent. I have been searching the Internet for fab ideas for our new home. Which, in case you are interested, currently looks like this:
Foundation and groundwork is finished. Framing is set to begin tomorrow. (Fingers, legs and eyes crossed).
I've been scouring decorating and home renovation sites online for creative ideas for the new house. Below are some of the ideas from the fantastic blogs I've recently discovered.
Inexpensive and classy backsplash
I stumbled upon Royal Design Studio and fell in love with their Moraccan stencil templates. Our kitchen and dining room wall color will be Behr Gobi Desert. It is a beautiful neutral taupe that we used in our last home. I plan on ordering the Large Marrakesh Trellis pattern and doing the stencil in the same color as the wall paint but only in flat. I think it will be a subtle but classy backsplash in the kitchen. Thoughts?
Black doors rock!
Thrifty Decor Chick is a cute DIY blog that I have been following for some time now. I must admit, I love her style...maybe because it so closely mirrors my own taste. :) I also appreciate that everything presented on the blog she does herself. Power to the estrogen! hehe A recent post on her blog illustrated the black door project she just completed...and I fell in love at first read. Not only do I like the black backdoor but I REALLY like the black frosted pantry door located next to it. Our new house will have a (sigh) walk-in pantry and I have set my heart on a frosted black door just like Sarah's. Are you scared of the black?
Safe Blinds for MaineBaby's Room
Okay...so not in this particular fabric pattern of course but the idea is genius. Mini blinds are a BIG no no. Roller blinds are cheap looking. And custom blinds break the bank. But this solution had me at "Fabric Covered Roller Shades". Thanks Cottage & Vine for the spectacular idea!!! This is the perfect inexpensive and safe solution for blinds in MaineBaby's new room. She will appreciate you too as she won't be woken up by the rising sun in our new house.
Have any thrifty, decorative, creative must includes for our new house? Or feedback for my suggestions above...please...leave it in the comments. All feedback welcomed!
